Cuban President praises exemplary relations with Vietnam

During the reception, President Díaz-Canel conveyed his warm greetings to the Vietnamese Communist Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong as well as senior leaders of the Vietnamese Party and State; reiterating the good impressions and sentiments of his previous visits to Vietnam.

He expressed his admiration for the proud historical tradition, great achievements in national development, as well as the timely and effective prevention of the COVID-19 pandemic of Vietnam.

Thanking Vietnam for its solidarity and valuable support for Cuba, both on bilateral and multilateral levels, he affirmed that Cuba wished and was determined to continue to strengthen the solidarity and brotherly cooperation between the two Parties, States and peoples, which he said aimed to continue the bilateral relationship tradition that was once assessed to be exemplary in international relations by Cuban leader Fidel Castro.

President Díaz-Canel agreed that the two countries should continue their efforts to bring economic-trade and investment cooperation up to the level of good political relations; and showed his appreciation of the mutual support and timely and practical cooperation between the two countries in the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic, considering this a vivid expression of brotherly solidarity between Cuba and Vietnam in the year the two countries celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations (1960-2020).

Ambassador Le Thanh Tung respectfully conveyed sincere greetings from Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong and Vietnamese senior leaders to President Miguel Díaz-Canel and First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee Raúl Castro, and other senior leaders of the Party and State of Cuba.

He affirmed that Vietnam always remembered and was grateful to Cuba for its immense spiritual and material support ever since; was consistent in supporting Cuba’s just revolutionary cause; and attached great importance to consolidating and deepening the relationship of brotherly solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and mutual trust between the two countries, which had been initiated by President Ho Chi Minh and Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro and fostered over the past 6 decades.

Ambassador Le Thanh Tung also congratulated Cuba in the group of few countries in the world that researched and soon put into clinical trial a COVID-19 vaccine candidate with satisfactory results, expressing the belief that the Cuban people would definitely overcome all difficulties and challenges to successfully implement its socio-economic development strategy./.
