On September 16, 852,480 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine arrived in Hanoi.

This is the number of vaccines supported by the German Government for Vietnam's vaccination campaign, through the COVAX Facility in close coordination with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Government of Vietnam.
Dr. Guido Hildner, German Ambassador to Vietnam, expressed his delight that the German vaccine batch had been delivered to Vietnam through the COVAX Facility, saying that Germany always stands with Vietnam in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. “We can only win the pandemic when it is contained everywhere. Therefore, Germany and the European Union support the campaign of fair and transparent access to the COVID-19 vaccine globally through the COVAX Facility", said Dr. Guido Hildner.
Dr. Kidong Park, United Nations Resident Coordinator and WHO representative in Vietnam on behalf of UN organizations expressed gratitude to the German Government and people for sharing valuable vaccines with the Vietnamese people. “In view of the challenging pandemic situation in Vietnam, we continue to support the Government's plan to prioritize vaccination for healthcare workers and frontline workers against the pandemic as well as the elderly people with underlying medical conditions and those with the highest risk of severe illness or death,” he said.
With a batch of vaccines supported by the German Government on September 16, Vietnam has received 12,578,110 doses of COVID-19 vaccine through the COVAX Facility.
The COVAX Facility is co-led by WHO, Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness and Innovations (CEPI), GAVI - the Vaccine Alliance, and UNICEF as a key delivery partner./.
