Hanoi always prioritizes cooperation with Russian localities

Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Bezdetko Gennady Stepanovich has emphasized that Russia-Vietnam relations, as well as those between Hanoi and Moscow and Saint Petersburg, have developed well, bringing benefits for both sides.

He made the statement on September 23 while being received by Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung.

According to the Russian Ambassador, every year, the two sides organize the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Year, Hanoi Days in Moscow, Moscow Days in Hanoi, and many other activities to promote bilateral trade. “Statistics show that in 2020, Vietnam ranks 10th among trading partners of Moscow, with total investment of Vietnamese enterprises in Moscow estimated at about USD500 million,” he said.

In recent years, Hanoi and Moscow have signed many cooperation agreements. On that basis, the friendship between the two capitals Hanoi and Moscow has been increasingly consolidated and developed in all fields. Currently, the city of Saint Petersburg is also considering promoting closer cooperation with Hanoi through agreements on cultural, economic and investment exchanges.

Congratulating the Russian Ambassador for starting his working term in Vietnam, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung said that Hanoi always gives top priority to developing friendship and cooperation with Russian localities, including Moscow, contributing to consolidating and strengthening the special relations between the two countries.

Noting Hanoi’s economic development, he said that with the role of the national political-administrative center, a major center for culture, science, education, economy and international transactions, Hanoi aims to actively and proactively integrate into the world, prioritises economic integration, and focuses on realising its commitments.

“In the coming time, Hanoi strives to realize the target of building a green, civilized, modern and smart city, maintaining the title of City for Peace, and keeping a fast and comprehensive development rate,” he added.

Regarding vaccination against COVID-19, he noted that Hanoi has basically injected the first dose for those 18 years old or more, while nearly 12% of the people have been administered the second dose. Expressing his thanks to Russia’s support for Vietnam’s COVID-19 prevention, he said he hoped Russia will continue to provide COVID-19 vaccines for Vietnam to promptly realize the vaccination target./.
