Hanoi strengthens cooperation with Italian localities

Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh has stressed the increasingly strengthened relationship between Vietnam and Italy, with bilateral cooperation being expanded in all areas, from politics, economics, diplomacy and defence, to science, technology and education.

He made the statement during his reception for Italian Ambassador to Vietnam Antonion Alessandro on March 24.

During the reception, he said that along with the prosperity in the relations between the two countries, over the past years, the cooperation between Hanoi and Italian localities has also been increasingly strengthened and durable. Currently, Italy has 28 investment projects in Hanoi with a total capital of more than USD43.9 million. Product export turnover from Hanoi to Italy is about USD142 million. “Many activities have been organized to enhance cultural and economic exchanges towards the common prosperity of the two countries,” he added.

According to Hanoi City People's Committee Chairman Chu Ngoc Anh, in 2021, Vietnam will hold many important events, including hosting the SEA Games 31 and Para Games 11. Hanoi will work closely with related departments and agencies to carry out these large-scale sports activities, especially the opening and closing ceremonies. “The city hopes that Italy, with its rich culture and experience in having organized many festivals and sports programs, will share experience so that Hanoi, as well as Vietnam, will have good preparation for SEA Games 31 and Para Games 11,” he went on to say.

Agreeing with the proposals of the Chairman of Hanoi City People's Committee, Italian Ambassador to Vietnam Antonion Alessandro said that, at present, many Italian companies have strengths in organizing major events, and added that he is willing to introduce them to share experiences and cooperate with Hanoi in the coming time.

On this occasion, Ambassador Antonion Alessandro also expressed his wish to strengthen cooperation with Hanoi in the fields of cultural exchange, heritage conservation, and continue to coordinate to speed up the construction of the metro line No. 3./.
