Indian communities’ festival celebrated in Ho Chi Minh City

The Indian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City on January 17 worked with the Indian Businesses’ Association in the city to celebrate the Indian communities’ Thai Pongal Festival 2021.

Addressing the festival, Indian Consul General to Ho Chi Minh City Madan Mohan Sethi said that the festival is an important one for farmers in southern India and northern Sri Lanka. “Called by other names, like Bihu and Makar Sakranti, the festival is welcomed across India,” he said.
Organized in early spring, the festival aims to thank the God of the Sun for helping the season be full of happiness, wealth and prosperity./.
