Accordingly, a support package worth about VND20 billion is currently being purchased by JICA through UNICEF Vietnam and is expected to be delivered in September 2021.
The cold boxes provided by JICA will store the vaccine at a temperature of 2-8°C with a temperature monitoring device to ensure the safe transportation of the vaccine from the central storage warehouses to the injection points.
Previously, on July 8, 2021, the Ministry of Health issued Decision 3355/QD-BYT approving the plan to implement the COVID-19 vaccination campaign. This is the largest vaccination campaign ever, deployed from July 2021 to April 2022 with 19,000 vaccination points nationwide.
In order to join hands with the Government of Vietnam in repelling the COVID-19 pandemic, in July 2021, JICA also implemented a cooperation program with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in the project "Prevention and control of infection and strengthening epidemiological control at border crossings.”
According to a JICA representative, through this support program, this agency helps to train and improve the capacity of Vietnam's border gate officers on disease control; and provides personal protective tools and equipment necessary for hand hygiene. The total value of the support package for this program is JPY20 million (equivalent to about VND4 billion)./.
