On May 11, the Provincial People's Committee held the inauguration of the medical station in Vinh Loi Commune, Son Duong District. This was the first project to be completed within the framework of the Tuyen Quang Province rural development project, funded by the Korean Government through the Office of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Vietnam.

Chairman of the Tuyen Quang Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Van Son; Korean Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Park Noh Wan; and KOICA Country Director in Vietnam, Mr. Cho Han-Deog and the participants cut the ribbon of the construction.

The project is expected to contribute to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment and primary health care for local people at the grassroots level.

Apart from the Vinh Loi communal medical station, there are also 2 commune health stations, 6 schools, one inter-commune road, 7 inter-village roads, and 3 irrigation works that are currently under construction or preparing to be invested.

The rural development program in Tuyen Quang Province, with a total investment of 15 million USD, focuses on empowering women, improving sustainable livelihoods, building capacity and improving the quality of health care and education, towards the goal of comprehensive and sustainable development in difficult communes of the province and improving quality of life for local people.

On this occasion, the provincial leaders had a meeting with the Korean representatives, sharing about the socio-economic achievements of the province in recent years, including the support from the Korean side.

Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Son appreciated the RoK’s support for the province’s socio-economic development, especially in health care, education, and agricultural development.

He voiced his hope that the RoK Embassy, via KOICA Vietnam Office, will continue to assist the province with smart urban development in Tuyen Quang City, along with high-tech agricultural production and the inclusion of local products in the global value chains of RoK companies. He also called upon firms to invest in high-tech and safe vegetable growing, and sharing knowledge on organic production.

For his part, Korean Ambassador to Vietnam Park Noh Wan spoke highly of Tuyen Quang’s socio-economic achievements and its efforts to fight COVID-19.

He expressed his hope that the successful implementation of a rural development programme in the province, supported by the RoK, will become a model that is expanded to other mountainous localities.

The ambassador added that he will continue to introduce Tuyen Quang to RoK localities to form partnerships, help local people temporarily work in the country, and consider aid in education, health care and human resources training, thereby luring more RoK businesses to the province.

He hoped that Tuyen Quang would promptly open an expressway linking it with the Noi Bai-Lao Cai expressway so as to facilitate cooperation between the province and the RoK./.
