Park Kyung-mee, spokesman of the Presidential Palace of the RoK, said the above plan was put forth by the Korean leader during his talks with Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc in New York on the sidelines of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly. During the talks, the Korean President affirmed that the two countries have tried to overcome the pandemic together from the early stage with sharing of related medical supplies.

The Vietnamese and Korean leaders agreed that the two countries are each other's "best partners", having deepened cooperation in many fields, including politics, economy and people-to-people diplomacy.

The two sides agreed to promote joint efforts so that bilateral relations can take off once again on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries next year. In 2009, the two countries upgraded their relations to the level of "strategic cooperative partnership."

In particular, President Moon Jae-in suggested Vietnam ensure the safety and protection of Korean people and businesses in Vietnam. In addition, the two sides exchanged views on the security situation on the Korean Peninsula and agreed to establish and maintain close partnership relations./.
