Authorized by the Prime Minister, on April 1, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Quoc Dung presented USD200,000 to Cambodian Ambassador to Vietnam Chay Navuth, as support from the Vietnamese Government and people of Vietnam to help the Cambodian Government and people cope with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Nguyen Quoc Dung emphasized that Vietnam and Cambodia are two countries with close neighborly relations and a tradition of sharing and supporting each other in difficulties. “The Vietnamese Government and people expect that the support will help the Government and people of Cambodia soon control the pandemic, stabilize the situation and continue to promote economic recovery and development,” said Deputy Minister Dung.
On this occasion, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs also expressed his thanks to the Cambodian Government for supporting the Vietnamese community in Cambodia, appreciating the Cambodian Government for starting COVID-19 vaccination for diplomatic delegations, including officials and employees of Vietnamese representative missions in Cambodia.
Ambassador Chay Navuth showed his deep thanks to the Vietnamese Government and people for their sincere help, stressing that the prompt support was an important addition to Cambodia's efforts to control the current outbreak of COVID-19 infection in the community.
The Ambassador highly appreciated the success of the Vietnamese Government and people of Vietnam in both controlling the pandemic and boosting economic development.
This is the second phase of support from the Vietnamese Government to the Cambodian Government in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In April 2020, the Government of Vietnam supported the Government of Cambodia with medical equipment, including protective clothing, medical masks, antibacterial masks, testing systems, and testing kits, worth more than VND7 billion./.
