Vietnam increases cooperation with APEC Secretariat

(CPV) - Standing Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son and Executive Director of the APEC Secretariat Rebecca Sta Maria has agreed to increase cooperation in carrying out suitable projects, including the training of external cadres and coordination in the building of APEC Vision.

On July 18th, Mr. Son received Ms Rebecca Sta Maria in Hanoi.
She congratulated Vietnam on gaining diverse achievements in multilateral diplomacy and joining interational economic links, especially the adoption of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the signing of the European Union - Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).
Ms Rebecca Sta Maria appreciated Vietnam’s initiatives and APEC members over the past 2 years in carrying out this important APEC Year, expressing her hope that Vietnam would continue to promote important cooperation, especially the building of APEC Vision after 2020, and the promotion of regional econnomic links for sustainable and exclusive development.
During the reception, the two sides agreed to closely work with each other to build the APEC Vision in 2020 when Vietnam will hold the ASEAN Presidency and Malaysia is APEC host, contributing to developing the Asia - Pacific into a dynamic, creative and inclusive region for the benefits of people and businesses./.
