Vietnam - key cooperation partner in RoK’s new southern policy

Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea (RoK) Park Byeong Seug has confirmed that Vietnam is the key cooperation partner of its new southern policy.

He made the statement during his reception for Vietnamese Ambassador to the RoK Nguyen Vu Tung on October 22.

During the reception, Speaker Park Byeong Seug said that the RoK and Vietnam were two successful models in controlling the COVID-19 pandemic. “The two countries are not only important partners in politics, security and trade - investment, but also people-to-people exchange,” he said, adding that he believed that the cooperation would be developed in the near future.

He expressed his hope to soon visit Vietnam, the first Asian country he chose to visit as Speaker of the RoK National Assembly.

Ambassador Nguyen Vu Tung conveyed regards and greetings from Vietnaemse National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and other Vietnamese leaders. He confirmed that Vietnam attached great importance to promoting the Vietnam-RoK strategic cooperation partnership, especially as Vietnam and other countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the RoK actively implemented the new southern policy.

Showing his thanks to the RoK for assisting the Vietnamese community, he pledged to do his utmost to promote the Vietnam – RoK relationship, towards the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations (December 22, 1992 - December 22, 2022)./.
