Under the authorization of senior leaders, on October 25, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a ceremony symbolically giving the gifts of the Party, State and people of Vietnam to support the Party, State and people of Laos in their new outbreak of COVID-19.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Quoc Dung said that from the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, Vietnamese leaders and people always pay close attention to and closely monitor the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic in Laos, especially the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic in the last 2 months.

With the tradition of supporting and helping each other in all circumstances over the years, in order to share with Laos, Vietnam decided to urgently provide the country USD2,150,000 and some medical supplies to be used in the prevention of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Nguyen Quoc Dung would like to thank the Lao Government for the attention to the Vietnamese community in Laos, and highly appreciated the Lao Government's COVID-19 vaccination for diplomatic delegations and foreigners, including Vietnamese officials and employees of representative agencies in Laos.

During the ceremony, Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Sengphet Houngboungnuang emphasized that although Vietnam is facing many difficulties due to the fourth wave of COVID-19 pandemic, the Party, State and people of Vietnam always pay attention to sharing and helping Laos during the past time, demonstrating the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

Sincerely thanking Vietnam for providing medical supplies and budget to help Laos cope with the new wave of COVID-19 pandemic, Ambassador Sengphet Houngboungnuang expressed strong belief that the timely and precious value of Vietnam’s support will help Laos soon overcome the pandemic./.
