Receiving Polish Ambassador to Vietnam Wojciech Gerwel on October 13, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son confirmed that Vietnam always attached great importance to reinforcing multilateral cooperation with Poland, a traditional friend and partner of Vietnam in Europe.
During the reception, he suggested the two countries continue to strengthen contacts and exchange delegations between senior leaders, ministries and local agencies in order to enhance political trust and mutual understanding, and create a foundation for promoting and expanding bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

He thanked the Polish Government and people for the recent donation of 501,600 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine to Vietnam and some essential medical equipment for Ho Chi Minh City to prevent the COVID-19 epidemic, and the upcoming additional aid of 890,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine which are expected to be transported to Vietnam by the Polish side this week. “These are noble and affectionate gestures, showing the long-standing traditional friendship between the two countries and the sincere affection and deep attachment between the two peoples,” he said.
He highly appreciated the active and effective role of the Polish Embassy in Hanoi and Ambassador Wojciech Gerwel personally in strengthening Vietnam-Poland cooperation in many fields, adding that recently they made efforts to arrange to bring medical equipment and vaccines sponsored by the Polish Government to Vietnam soon to serve pandemic prevention and control.
Minister Bui Thanh Son assessed that trade relations between the two countries continue to develop positively. Despite being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, Poland is still Vietnam's largest trading partner in Central Eastern Europe, with two-way turnover in the first 8 months of 2021 of USD1.67 billion.
According to Ambassador Wojciech Gerwel, on the basis of the good traditional friendship between the two countries and the two peoples, the Polish Government and people as well as the Ambassador personally were very pleased to have contributed to supporting the people.
He affirmed that he will constantly make efforts to contribute to consolidating and tightening the traditional friendship and good cooperation between the two countries in order to meet the practical interests of the two peoples./.
