Vietnamese ambassador presents credentials to Omani King

Vietnamese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and Oman Vu Viet Dung on February 17 presented his credentials to Omani King Haitham bin Tarik.

King Haitham bin Tarik extended his greetings to the General Secretary, State President Nguyen Phu Trong and senior leaders of Vietnam, wishing the Vietnamese people prosperity and happiness. The King also wished the Ambassador a successful term, contributing to the maintenance and further development of the friendship and cooperative relationship between the two countries.

Ambassador Vu Viet Dung conveyed General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong’s greetings to the King, expressed his honor at being the Vietnamese Ambassador, and wished to contribute to the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Oman.

Within the framework of the business trip to Oman, Ambassador Vu Viet Dung had a meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalifa AlHarthy. The Deputy Foreign Minister expressed his admiration for the success of Vietnam’s economic development and COVID-19 pandemic prevention, and thanked Vietnam for giving more than 100,000 medical face masks to Omani people when the pandemic had just broken out.

Deputy Minister AlHarthy was also pleased to report that the Government of Oman has recently decided to offer tourist visa exemption for citizens from many countries, including Vietnam, and expressed his confidence in the development of tourism and exchanges between the people of the two countries when the pandemic is controlled.

At the meeting with the President and General Secretary of Oman’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ambassador Vu Viet Dung introduced the handbook “Introductory Products for Export from Vietnam” published by the Embassy, introducing more than 60 items of Vietnamese businesses for export to the Middle East market, including Oman, and the book "Vietnam Investment Promotion Guide".

At the two meetings, the Vietnamese Ambassador discussed and proposed a number of measures to maintain political - diplomatic relations and strengthen business connections between the two countries in the coming time.

The Kingdom of Oman is located in the southeast of the Arabian Peninsula, the gateway to the Persian Gulf, in the Middle East. The nation has an area of 310,000 square kilometers and a population of about 5 million, mainly Muslims.

Vietnam and Oman established diplomatic relations in 1992./.
