Vietnamese enterprises continue to support Laos in COVID-19 prevention

Laos has met many difficulties in controlling the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to support Lao authorities in implementing preventive measures, Vietnamese businesses continue to join hands with Laos to restrict the damage caused by the pandemic.

Recently, the Lao Ministry of Health held a ceremony to receive COVID-19 prevention materials and equipment which included medical masks, antiseptic alcohol, and temperature measuring devices of LaoVietBank, worth over LAK101.8 million.

During the ceremony, Lao Minister of Health Bounfeng Phoummalaysith expressed his thanks and appreciation for LaoVietBank’s support, confirming that the materials and equipment would be used effectively. Accordingly, the ministry will send preventive equipment to a number of central and provincial hospitals to promptly serve the pandemic prevention. The Lao Health Ministry added that this was  a practical action of Vietnamese enterprises in Laos to join hands with the Lao Government in fighting COVID-19.

Addressing the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Duc Vu, Chief Representative of the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) in Laos, and General Director of LaoVietBank, said that in response to the call of the Government of Laos, LaoVietBank's management board called for the donation of materials and equipment from both Vietnamese and Lao officials and employees, considering it the responsibility of Vietnamese businesses to the Lao society. He also informed of the business’ strict application of COVID-19 preventive measures, striving to fulfill its assigned business tasks to making a contribution to Laos' economy.

On May 3-4, branches of LaoVietBank in the Lao provinces of Oudomxay, Champasack and Savannakhet also launched a donation movement to donate medical equipment and food to the Lao authorities at all levels.

LaoVietBank, a joint venture between BIDV and Bank for Foreign Commerce of Laos (BCEL), is one of the joint venture banks of Vietnam in Laos that always participates in social movements in Laos, and performs well the social responsibility of Vietnamese enterprises investing and doing business in Laos./.
