In the beginning, the article highly appreciates Vietnam's response to the pandemic recently, noting that despite many difficulties, the Government of Vietnam has gradually taken measures to control the pandemic to achieve the goal of both preventing the pandemic and boosting socio-economic development.

The article highlights the role of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh as Head of the National Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control, promulgating Resolution 128/NQ-CP on urgent measures to effectively prevent the spread of the virus, and effectively, safely and flexibly adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Government has stepped up the vaccination program with the current vaccination rate being relatively high as a total of more than 90 million doses have been given, around 83% of the population aged 18 or more having received at least one dose and about 40% of the population aged 18 years or more having received the second dose.

The article predicts that trade and investment relations between the two countries will be strong even during the pandemic by citing figures in recent difficult times. Specifically, from January to September this year, foreign direct investment (FDI) of Japanese companies into Vietnam reached USD3.27 billion, accounting for 14.7% of the total FDI capital accepted by Vietnam. Total accumulated Japanese FDI into Vietnam ranks third, at USD62.9 billion. Regarding import and export, the total import and export value of both countries from January to July reached USD24.5 billion, up 11.9% over the same period last year.

According to the article, if Vietnam's domestic production activities normalize and trade returns to a vibrant state, Vietnam will continue to be a potential country for foreign investors, including Japanese investors. At the same time, the article expressed its interest in how Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit to Japan will further strengthen Japan-Vietnam relations./.
