Hanoi promotes cooperative relationship with Lao capital

(CPV) - Talks were held on August 9 between the delegation from Hanoi and the delegation from the Lao capital Vientiane headed by Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the Secretary of the Vientiane Party Committee and Chairman of the municipal People’s Council Anouphap Tounalom.

Speaking at the talks, Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung reviewed the important cooperation milestones between Hanoi and Vientiane capital over the past time, especially the memorandum of cooperation agreement between the Hanoi Party Committee and authority and the Vientiane Party Committee and authority for the period of 2022-2025, which was signed in April 2022.

He stated that, right after the signing, the Hanoi Party Committee focused on leading and directing agencies, departments, branches and localities in the city to thoroughly understand, study and develop plans for implementation, to make it practical and effective.

“Many initiatives on bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy and culture have been proposed and implemented,” he said.

Continuing the above favorable momentum, in order for the projects and cooperation activities between the two sides to bring practical effects and contribute positively to the development of the two capitals, he suggested that the two sides continue to strengthen the cooperation at all levels; and maintain a regular information and exchange mechanism between agencies.

He also asked the two sides to study and implement specific cooperation projects, suitable to the actual needs and capacity of each locality, especially in the fields of cooperation with precedent and positive results such as agriculture, education, and human resources quality improvement; while encouraging agencies to research and propose new forms of cooperation, solutions to promote investment and trade cooperation, bringing long-term economic benefits to businesses of both sides.

He also suggested promoting further education to raise awareness of all classes of people, especially the young generation, about the meaning and importance of bilateral cooperation, promoting people-to-people exchanges, enhancing mutual understanding and strengthening friendship.

At the talks, the delegates spent time discussing many issues of mutual concern. Secretary of the Vientiane City Party Committee Anouphap Tounalom expressed his strong agreement with the issues raised by Mr. Dinh Tien Dung about programs and work plans, especially in the process of leadership and direction between the two sides in the coming time.

He affirmed that the Vientiane side will do its best, together with Vietnamese comrades in general and Hanoi capital in particular, to contribute to preserving the traditional special friendship relationship between the two countries.

After the talks, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung and Secretary of the Vientiane City Party Committee Anouphap Tounalom witnessed the signing ceremony of cooperation agreements between localities and agencies of the two sides./.
