Hanoi’s seven-month price index rises 0.51%

(CPV) - The consumer price index (CPI) in July 2024 in Hanoi increased by 0.51% from the previous month and rose by 5.51% compared to the same period last year, according to the City Statistics Office.
The average CPI in the first 7 months this year increased by 5.36% compared to the same period in 2023.
This month, 10 out of 11 CPI groups saw price hikes compared to June. Specifically, the transportation group increased by 1.38% (contributing to pushing the overall CPI by 0.14%) due to the average monthly gasoline price rising by 3.78% from the previous month and diesel price soared by 4.37%.

The housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials group went up by 0.86% (raising the overall CPI by 0.17%) due to a 4.36% increase in kerosene prices and a 2.38% rise in average electricity prices in the month.
The culture, entertainment and tourism group soared by 0.36% (increasing the overall CPI by 0.02%). The food and catering services group increased by 0.28% (increasing the overall CPI by 0.08%) due to a 0.35% increase in foodstuff prices; a 0.17% rise in food prices; and an increase in eating out by 0.14%. The household equipment and appliances group increased by 0.09% (increasing overall CPI by 0.01%).
The other goods and services group surged by 2.28% (increasing overall CPI by 0.08%) because from July 1, increase in basic salary of civil servants and public employees made prices of health insurance services rise. The followinging groups inched up, including garment, hats, footwear, beverages, and tobacco (0.07%); medicine and medical services (0.05%) and education (0.02%).
The post and telecommunications group fell by 0.16%.
Gold price index in July increased by 1.32% and USD price index rose by 0.03% compared to the previous month./.
