Hanoi speeds up vaccination against COVID-19 for protecting preventive results

(CPV) - During a national teleconference held by the Ministry of Health on August 21, Chu Xuan Dung, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee, affirmed that the COVID-19 pandemic in Hanoi has been well controlled, while vaccination against COVID-19 is being accelerated. Along with that, the collection and treatment of COVID-19 patients has been effectively implemented.

Up to now, Hanoi has recorded 1,617,451 cases, including 1,617,217 cases in the area and 292 imported cases. The city also carried out surveillance of 338 genetic samples which showed that Omicron is still the main circulating strain.
In terms of vaccination against COVID-19, the 3rd dose for people over 18 years old reached 98.2% while the 4th dose reached 66.9%. In addition, the injection for children from 5 to under 12 years old gained positive results, with the 1st dose reaching 64.3% and the 2nd dose reaching 31.3%. For children from 12 to 17 years old, the 1st and 2nd doses reached more than 99%; and the 3rd dose reached 46.7%.
To protect the results of the pandemic prevention and control, the city leaders stressed the development of the grassroots medical network, by increasing the quality of medical treatment at medical stations and clinics; increasing the prevention of infectious diseases at medical stations; concentrating the implementation of public investment projects in the 2022-2025 period and the years to come, including the investment in grassroots health system, ensuring that people have the best access to initial medical services.
Other key issues will also be directed by Hanoi in the coming time, including removing difficulties and obstacles in procurement and bidding for drugs, supplies and chemicals for medical examination and treatment and pandemic prevention; focusing on controlling and preventing a re-emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic and others./.
