Tourists flock to Hanoi during Tet holiday

Hanoi welcomed and served an estimated 332,000 tourists during the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, from January 21 to 26, in which foreign tourists numbered 32,000; according to the city Department of Tourism.

Total revenue from tourists reached more than 1 trillion VND.
The average occupancy at 1 to 5-star hotels was estimated at 40%. Tourists mainly came from the Republic of Korea, Japan, Singapore, Canada, Thailand and France.
Destinations attracting the most tourists are Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam (about 80,000 arrivals), Huong Pagoda (about 80,000), the Imperital Citadel of Thang Long (about 20,000), Co Loa relic (18,000), and Duong Lam Ancient Village - Son Tay Ancient Citadel (about 15,000).
Tourist attractions have upgraded the quality of services, launched many new programs and products, and organized cultural and artistic activities to stimulate demand and attract tourists.
Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism Dang Huong Giang said that the domestic tourists are mainly Hanoians enjoying Tet on the spot. However, the number of international visitors celebrating Tet in Hanoi increased, which is the basis for the capital’s confidence to receive a positive number of international visitors in 2023./.
