Ho Chi Minh city needs over 42 billion USD for transport infrastructure

The Ho Chi Minh city People’s Committee has just issued a plan to realize the transport infrastructure development project for the period of 2021-2030, with a total expected investment of 970.65 trillion VND (42.3 billion USD).

Of which, 399.72 trillion VND comes from budget capital and the rest from other sources of capital such as ODA and PPP. 

In 2021-2030, the southern city will invest in more than 650km of roads, 211km of railways, 81 major bridges, 15 major intersections; and 7 projects under the Smart City Program.

Along with that, the locality also invested in completing the highway and national highway connecting Ho Chi Minh city with the Southern Key Economic Zone.

In 2021-2025, the city will prioritize investment in key and urgent projects with a total estimated investment of more than 553 trillion VND; including about 181 trillion VND of budget capital, about 372 trillion VND of other capital. It targets developing 294km of roads; 66km of railway and BRT; 32 major bridges and 5 important intersections.

In 2021-2025, the city will complete the North-South road axis (the section from Nguyen Van Linh to Ba Chiem Bridge); the road connecting Tran Quoc Hoan street with Cong Hoa street; complete the cross-section of Ring 2 (Vo Chi Cong street) from Phu My Bridge to Nguyen Duy Trinh-Ring 2 intersection.

The city People’s Committee assigned the Department of Transport to coordinate with other departments, branches, Thu Duc City People’s Committee and districts to publish information of the project and the results of the implementation results./.
