Creating best investment environment

Amidst the difficulties of the COVID-19 epidemic, Ho Chi Minh City has been very active in seeking the best way to support businesses and investors, gaining remarkable results.

In investment promotion alone, the city welcomed and worked with 144 domestic and foreign delegations, and organized 15 investment promotion activities, notably dialogues between city leaders and Eurocham, the program to support enterprises to access investment capital to recover production after COVID-19. The system for business – authority dialogue has conducted 10 online conferences, attracting 2,750 enterprises, receiving and answering 1,400 questions. This is a specific activity that directly solves problems for businesses, including many foreign investors, according to Mr. Nguyen Huu Tin, Director of the city’s Trade and Investment Promotion Center.

First effective business support model in the country

Ms. Le Thi Huynh Mai, Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Planning and Investment, evaluated that, up to now, 3 years after establishing the Investment Working Group of the City People's Committee, it has instructed to handle problems for 92 projects. In particular, it has focused on solving problems for 35 projects with a total investment of more than VND320 trillion. 

In addition, ITPC has worked with the City Department of Planning and Investment and the Department of Industry and Trade to regularly organize conferences with businesses to listen to comments on the business environment as well as businesses’ difficulties and obstacles to be addressed.

From the results achieved, Ho Chi Minh City will continue to add to the draft plan to implement the Government’s resolution on continuing to perform tasks and solutions to improve the business environment and national competitiveness in 2021, and solutions to improve the investment environment.

Accordingly, the city aims to reduce by at least 30% the time to process petitions of businesses compared to the process being carried out by agencies or units. More than 80% of branches and land registration offices handle administrative documents and procedures on time by 96%. Over 60% of administrative procedures are eligible via online public services./.
