HCM City sets target of having 60% of preschools by 2030

The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has just released a report summarizing the development of education and training for the 2011-2022 period, and tasks and solutions to develop education and training until 2030, with a vision to 2045.

Accordingly, in terms of planning the network of education and training institutions, the southern city set a target of having 60% of preschools, 80% of primary schools, 70% of junior high schools and 50% of public high schools fulfilling national standards by 2030.

In addition, Thu Duc city and 21 districts strive to achieve the target of 300 classrooms per 10,000 people of school age from 3-18 years old at each school level.

At the same time, there are at least 2 schools at each school level implementing high-quality programs under the model of “advanced schools, international integration” and 100% of schools strive to develop according to the smart school model.

Each school must ensure the number of students from 30 to 35 per class at all levels. To meet this goal, 100% of primary schools and 70% of junior high schools organize 2 sessions a day.

For the high school level, more than 80% of high schools in each district and Thu Duc city teach 2 sessions a day.

For preschool, each preschool must have at least one smart classroom, 100% of teachers meet training standards, 60% of teachers have above-standard qualifications, and 100% of preschool children will be familiar with English.

Regarding foreign language requirements, by 2030, the city strives to have 100% of students completing primary school with foreign language level of A1 or equivalent, 100% of students completing secondary school programs with foreign language level from A2 or equivalent, and 50% of primary school students with international foreign language computer certificates.

According to the report, the regular state budget on education and training makes up at least 20% of the total state budget expenditure./.
