Ho Chi Minh City, US state hold potential for cooperation in trade of agricultural products

Ho Chi Minh City’s leader wants to strengthen cooperation with Oregon state (the US) in areas of mutual interest and Oregon’s strengths, such as sharing of experience in economic development, urban governance, health, education, trade and investment.

Chairman of the City People’s Committee Phan Van Mai on November 16 received Ms Kate Brown, Governor of Oregon, on a visit to the city for exchanging cooperation potentials between the two sides.
Appreciating the Oregon delegation’s visit in making practical contribution to reinforcing and developing the Vietnam – US comprehensive partnership, Mr. Mai confirmed that Ho Chi Minh City has always been determined to be an active member in developing the cooperative relationship between the two countries.
He suggested Ms. Kate Brown pay attention to and promote US businesses choosing the city as a location to invest in semiconductor technology and electronic chip production. “Ho Chi Minh City is willing to prepare appropriate infrastructure, human resources and support policies to cooperate with US enterprises in developing the semiconductor industry and electronic chip production,” he said.
For her part, Ms Kate Brown highly appreciated the development and economic role of Ho Chi Minh City for the country, as well as in promoting cooperation between the US and Vietnam.
On the basis of the positive results of educational cooperation with the city, the state of Oregon wishes to further promote bilateral cooperation activities in potential fields such as natural disaster prevention and control, climate change control and green technology development.
Governor Kate Brown said that Vietnam and Oregon have different climate characteristics, and there is potential for cooperation in trade of agricultural products, confirming that Oregon enterprises with qualifications and experience in the field of semiconductor technology and electronic chip manufacturing are eager to cooperate with Ho Chi Minh City in this field.
During the visit to Ho Chi Minh City, the Oregon delegation attended the Vietnam International Food Industry Exhibition (FoodExpo 2022); and worked with a number of US enterprises investing and doing business in Ho Chi Minh City./.
