Emphasizing that Ho Chi Minh City values friendly cooperation with Japan, Chairman of the City People's Committee Phan Van Mai said that the city wishes to develop more comprehensive cooperation with Japan in the Vietnam – Japan common framework of cooperation.

He made the statement during his reception for Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Yamada Takio, on November 21.

At the meeting, Chairman Mai highly appreciated the visit to Ho Chi Minh City by the Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Yamada Takio, and expressed thanks for the cooperation and assistance of Japan, the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, and the Consulate General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City.

He added that the city wishes to cooperate with Japanese localities, contributing to more effective and profound cooperation programs between Japan and Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City.

According to Chairman Mai, the city will pay attention to and create favorable conditions for Japanese businesses and citizens who are doing business, working and studying in Ho Chi Minh City. Noting that the city will hold a meeting with Japanese businesses and promptly share the city's investment orientation with the businesses, he said he hoped that the Japanese Ambassador will connect Japanese investors with the city's business community, especially small and medium enterprises, in innovation.

Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Yamada Takio thanked Chairman Mai for taking the time to welcome him. Regarding the situation of Japanese businesses and citizens investing, living and studying in Ho Chi Minh City, he expressed his joy about the the city’s economic development after the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the meeting, the two sides discussed a number of activities on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan, and discussed coordination in promoting the implementation of projects and cooperation to develop green economy./.
