Institute helps promote Vietnamese culture to foreigners in Ho Chi Minh City

Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Vo Van Hoan emphasized that the city has always appreciated the Institute of Cultural Exchange with France (IDECAF)’s role as a dynamic cultural bridge over the past 40 years, confirming that it has become a familiar Vietnamese-French cultural address for a long time, known and loved by the city’s residents.

He made the statement on November 29 during a ceremony to mark the 40th anniversary of IDECAF.

According to Mr. Hoan, cultural cooperation and exchange activities between Ho Chi Minh City and France have taken place actively in recent years, in various forms such as organizing cultural-artistic events, preserving and promoting heritage, training human resources, and organizing cultural and artistic events. “These activities contribute to spreading good values and bringing the people of the two countries closer together, contributing to tightening the strategic partnership between Vietnam and France,” he said, adding that the activities have conveyed a positive message about a young, dynamic and potential Ho Chi Minh City to French investors and businesses, as well as countries of the Francophone community.

“IDECAF not only contributes to bringing French language and culture to the city people, but also introduces and promotes Vietnamese culture to the foreigner community in the city,” he went on to say.

On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Head of the Department of International Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Do Hung Viet emphasized that IDECAF is an important subject in implementing cultural diplomacy policies with France as well as with countries in the Francophone community, recognized by the Vietnamese Party, State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ho Chi Minh City’s residents and partners.

Noting that in 2023, the two countries will celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam - France Strategic Partnership, he said he hoped that IDECAF will continue to promote its role to make more contributions to deepening the exchange and cultural exchange relations with France and the Francophone community, serving the city's people better and better, contributing to the development of the city.

On this occasion, IDECAF received the Certificate of Merit from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Certificate of Merit from the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; while IDECAF Director Nguyen Ngoc Lan received the Certificate of Merit from the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee./.
