Nearly 16,000 billion VND poured into HCMC’s science and technology activities

A meeting has been organized by the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) to review 10 years of implementing Resolution No. 20-NQ/TU on November 1, 2012 on science and technology development to serve the cause of industrialization and modernity.

Accordingly, over the past 10 years, activities have created many breakthrough scientific and technological products, which the city has focused on in fields such as: healthcare, mechanical engineering, energy, urban management, microelectronic chips, nanotechnology, and high-tech agriculture. The state budget allocation for science and technology activities of the city in the 2011 – 2021 period is 15,828 billion VND.
In the past 10 years, the number of science and technology staff in the city has increased rapidly. Currently, the city has 21,210 people working in the field of science and technology. However, according to the municipal Department of Science and Technology, there is still a shortage of leading experts in the field of science and technology, especially in biotechnology, microchip technology, nanotechnology and artificial intelligence./.
