On November 16, in Ho Chi Minh City, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Phan Van Mai received New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern within the framework of her official visit to Vietnam on November 14-17.

Expressing his joy and appreciation for the special attention of Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai said he believed that the New Zealand Prime Minister's visit will make an important contribution to promoting the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Sharing about the socio-economic development situation, he said that the two-way trade turnover between the two countries is currently about USD1.3 billion USD, of which Ho Chi Minh City contributes about 30%, which he said is really inadequate and that more efforts should be made to make the best use of the potential and strengths of the two sides.

According to Mr. Mai, with New Zealand localities and businesses, Ho Chi Minh City will promote cooperation activities in tourism and education; climate change credit program; reduction of emissions in agriculture, development of plant varieties with high yield and quality; sharing of experiences in digital transformation in administrative agencies, promotion of digital transformation in business households, small and medium enterprises, green growth, and development of the community of innovative start-ups.

Expressing her delight to come to Ho Chi Minh City with New Zealand businesses for the first time, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern believed that the city's important role would contribute to bringing the two-way trade turnover between the two countries to USD2 billion in the following years.

According to Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, after natural disasters and epidemics, New Zealand businesses are now interested in studying Ho Chi Minh City's markets and policies on trade. “Many businesses in education and tourism operate with the goal of economic development and people-to-people diplomacy,” she said.

The two sides need to have dialogue on inclusive economic development, trade promotion or promotion of artificial intelligence development; thereby bringing the highest economic value to enterprises of the two countries in the coming time, she added./.
