On November 22, Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee held a press briefing on the event with the theme "Adapting for recovery and creating development".
The first Ho Chi Minh City Friendship Dialogue 2022 is organized to implement a plan to promote relations between Ho Chi Minh City and international localities, especially key localities of countries that are Vietnam's comprehensive strategic cooperation partners, serving the goal of rapid and sustainable economic development of Ho Chi Minh City in the period of 2020 - 2025.
It aims to create more communication channels, connect and tighten friendship with localities that have been and will be partners accompanying the City in particular and Vietnam in general in the process of striving for the goal of peace and development, while demonstrating the initiative, attractiveness, and increasing position of the City in international life at regional and world levels.
The dialogue will draw the participation of more than 20 leaders and representatives of international localities having friendly cooperative relations with Ho Chi Minh City from many countries, such as Germany, Korea, the United States, Australia, Japan, Russia, EU countries, and ASEAN nations. Participants will share about the challenges and development opportunities of the region and the world through the introduction, discussion and success stories from local to area, connecting resources to implement cooperative programs and initiatives for mutual benefits.
In addition, the event also aims to strengthen coordination with the international community (public and private sectors) to implement the City's key development programs, creating opportunities for the City to promote its role and introduce itself as an attractive shopping center, tourist rendezvous and investment destination for international friends.
The director of the City's Department of Foreign Affairs said that the highlight of the event will be the Plenary Meeting and the Mayor's Conference on sharing about challenges and introducing initiatives to improve the efficiency of urban governance, economic development and recovery; bilateral meetings between leaders of Ho Chi Minh City and international localities.
On this occasion, an exhibition on the friendship between Ho Chi Minh City and international localities, flower offering at President Ho Chi Minh's monument, and city tour will be held./.
