Economics and trade cooperation between Vietnam and Belarus promoted

A stall featuring Vietnamese goods was organized at the exhibition and fair “Gomel Spring” from May 23rd-26th as an attempt to promote exports to and the presence of Vietnamese goods and products at the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in general and Belarus in particular.

Being one of 29 participants from 15 countries worldwide at the fair, the Vietnam commercial affairs office in Belarus attended fully the events of the fairs, especially bringing Vietnam’s key products like coffee, tea, rice, rubber, cashew nuts, peanuts and fisheries, as well as tourism products to customers.

Answering interviews of some Belarusian news agencies, Nguyen Tien Phuong, Vietnamese commercial counselor to Belarus, highlighted the friendly, traditional and multilateral cooperative relationship between the two countries, expressing his wish to further promote the economic relationship in line with the good political and diplomatic relationship, especially after the official visit to Belarus by President Tran Dai Quang in June 2017. 

He also gave an introduction on Vietnam’s economic development and international integration; the economic, commercial and investment relationship between Vietnam and Belarus, stressing the advantages of Vietnamese key agricultural and forestry products on the world market in terms of quality and prices, especially in the context of the valid free trade agreement between Vietnam and EAEU.

In the first 3 months of this year, the two-way trade turnover reached nearly USD60 million, with an expectation of hitting over USD200 million this year, and USD500 million by 2020./.
