Association provides scholarship to Cambodian students

The Vietnam – Cambodia Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City on June 16 held a meeting with Cambodian students in the city at the Changtarangsay Pagoda in District 3, as part of activities to mark the 55th anniversary of Vietnam – Cambodia diplomatic relationship (June 24) and the Vietnam – Cambodian Friendship Year 2022.

Speaking at the meeting, Pham Hong Thuan, a member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam – Cambodia Friendship Association, said that the meeting aimed to represent the solidarity between Vietnamese and Cambodian people. “This is also an opportunity to disseminate widely among the young generation the meaning and importance of preserving and consolidating this solidarity and friendship relationship,” he added.

According to Mr. Thuan, in the coming years Vietnamese and Cambodian leaders will continue to affirm and emphasize the importance of the traditional relationship and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties and States, considering this a long-term strategic relationship which has particularly important significance for the development of each country, and needs to be preserved, promoted and passed on to future generations.

Mr. Sok Dareth, Cambodian Consul General to Ho Chi Minh City, expressed his gratitude to the authorities and people of Ho Chi Minh City over the years for taking care and supporting Cambodian students through diverse programs, which is a timely and practical source of spiritual and material encouragement for Cambodian students.

At the meeting, the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City presented VND500 million of scholarships for Cambodian students in the city.

Also at the event, the Changtarangsay Pagoda presented 100 scholarships worth 1 million VND each for the students./.
