Can Tho strengthens connections of cooperation and friendship activities with India

On March 21, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Nguyen Thuc Hien had a meeting with Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi, Indian Consul General to Ho Chi Minh City, on promoting cooperation and investment with Indian partners and localities.

Accordingly, it is expected that in May 2023, Can Tho city will organize a delegation to promote investment, trade and tourism in India. During the working trip, the city suggested the Indian side support the delegation to visit and work with the Indian Institute of Technology, creating favorable conditions for inviting Indian investors to the information technology sector in the centralized information industrial park of Can Tho city, and exchange experiences on economic development - tourism.

At the meeting, Mr. Hien proposed that the direction of cooperation in the coming time between the two sides focus on the fields of hi-tech agriculture, processing industry, investment cooperation, tourism, health, education and training, and information technology.

“Can Tho hopes that the Indian side will support the organization of the "India - Can Tho City" connection seminar with the aim of connecting Indian importers with exporters of rice, seafood, agricultural products and processed agricultural products of Can Tho city, as well as introducing and promoting tourism in Can Tho city,” he said.

Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi said that Can Tho is a city with many strengths and potentials, and he is committed to supporting cooperation activities in the fields that the city suggests.

He emphasized that the business trip to promote investment, trade and tourism of Can Tho City People's Committee to India in May is considered a good opportunity for Can Tho city to find potential partners and actively promote cooperation activities between the parties. During the visit of the Can Tho city delegation to India, the Indian side will create conditions and support for the delegation to visit and work in two states of India.

He also suggested that Can Tho City promote potential projects to call for and attract investment from both sides. At the same time, he pledged to support two-way tourism promotion and said that he would arrange working sessions for relevant Indian agencies in the fields of trade, investment, healthcare, education and training, information technology, import and export activities according to the needs of both parties./.
