Speaking at the forum, Vice Chairwoman of Da Nang City People's Committee Ngo Thi Kim Yen said that the forum was organized to strengthen support and connect businesses in Da Nang and Thailand for investment cooperation and market expansion. The forum will also contribute to promoting friendship and cooperation in many fields between Da Nang and Thai partners and strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

In March 2022, Da Nang City began to reopen to restore economic development after a long time affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. International routes have been reopened to bring the first tourists from Thailand and Singapore to Da Nang; together with many investment promotion activities, investment and aviation forums held in the city.

Ms Yen added she believed that overseas Vietnamese in general and overseas Vietnamese in Thailand in particular always look to their homeland, contributing to the construction of the fatherland.

At the forum, delegates introduced and discussed potentials, strengths and policies to encourage investment, trade, cooperation opportunities, business, import-export needs and tourism cooperation between Da Nang and Thailand.

According to Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Phan Chi Thanh, Da Nang City is the first stop of the overseas Vietnamese business delegation in Thailand in its journey through 5 provinces and cities of Da Nang, Quang Nam, Kien Giang, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.

With about a thousand businesses of overseas Vietnamese in Thailand, mainly small and medium-sized enterprises, many of which are very successful businesses, operating in a variety of fields such as agriculture, food processing, construction, hotels, and restaurants. Ambassador Phan Chi Thanh expressed his belief that the Vietnamese community in Thailand is an important bridge in cultivating friendship and cooperation between the two peoples.

Also at the forum, Ambassador Phan Chi Thanh suggested that Da Nang needs to have specific mechanisms and policies to create the best conditions for overseas Vietnamese businesses in the world in general and in Thailand in particular to want to return to Vietnam to invest and do business in Da Nang; and coordinate more closely with the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand in promoting investment, trade and tourism with Thailand in general and overseas Vietnamese in particular./.
