Ho Chi Minh City encourages Korean businesses to invest

A leader of Ho Chi Minh City suggested the Mayor of Seoul (the Republic of Korea) encourage Korean businesses, especially those from Seoul, to actively seek opportunities with Vietnam in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular.

On August 4, in Ho Chi Minh City, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai received and held talks with Mr. Oh Se-Hoon, Mayor of Seoul, who is visiting and working in the city, for exchanging directions to strengthen cooperation between the two localities.

At the reception, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai expressed his delight at the good development in the increasingly comprehensive and extensive relationship between Vietnam and the RoK in many fields, especially after the two countries upgraded their strategic cooperation partnership in 2009.

He added that on the basis of the good bilateral relationship between the two countries, the relationship between Ho Chi Minh City and the RoK also achieved many encouraging results.

Currently, the RoK is the third largest investor in the city with more than 1,900 valid projects with a total investment capital of USD5.3 billion. Ho Chi Minh City has established friendly relations and cooperation with 7 Korean localities, including Seoul city.

Mr. Phan Van Mai hoped that Seoul City would continue to strengthen cooperation and share experiences in the fields of urban management, smart traffic, staff training, start-ups and innovation.

The two localities collaborated, discussed and launched tourism cooperation products and projects, contributing to enhancing and promoting tourism.

He also affirmed the intention to always create the most favorable conditions for Seoul's businesses to invest and do business locally; and suggested the Mayor of Seoul      encourage Korean businesses, especially those from Seoul, to actively seek cooperation opportunities with Vietnam in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular.

Mr. Oh Se-Hoon, Mayor of Seoul, expressed his agreement and joy at the growing cooperation relationship between the two sides.

Appreciating the potential for cooperation between the two localities, the Mayor of Seoul affirmed that in the coming time, he would encourage and create favorable conditions for Seoul businesses to invest in the city in      fields of common interest and Seoul’s strengths such as urban transport, tourism, and smart cities.

Ho Chi Minh City and Seoul City should study to sign cooperation agreements in areas of mutual interest and strengths, according to Mayor Oh Se-Hoon.

Mayor Oh Se-Hoon also expressed his wish that Ho Chi Minh City would continue to create favourable conditions for Korean businesses, including Seoul City businesses, to invest and do long-term business in the city./.
