IMF highly appreciates Vietnam's policy in stabilize macroeconomy

The Deputy Director General of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) highly appreciated that Vietnam has managed a high-growth economy and controlled inflation well in recent years despite the international environment with many uncertainties and risks.

On January 9, at the Party Central Committee (PCC) headquarters, Politburo member and head of the PCC Economic Commission Tran Tuan Anh received a delegation from the IMF led by Ms. Antoinette Sayeh, IMF Deputy General Director.

Appreciating the good traditional cooperation between Vietnam and the IMF, Mr. Anh affirmed that the leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam always attach great importance to and listen to the advice and policy recommendations of the IMF, contributing to helping Vietnam set out more effective macroeconomic, fiscal and monetary policies.

He highly appreciated the IMF for regularly providing quality updates on the macroeconomic situation of Vietnam, and thanked the IMF for its support in staff training. He also informed the delegation about the macroeconomic situation of Vietnam in the period of 2019-2022, drew valuable lessons and experiences for economic management, development orientations and policies in the coming time, with priority given to strengthening the macro foundations, renovating the growth model, towards sustainable growth. He said he hoped that the IMF will continue to accompany and support Vietnam in the coming time.

Ms. Antoinette Sayeh thanked Mr. Anh for taking the time to receive the delegation; expressed pleasure and appreciation that Vietnam has managed a high-growth economy and controlled inflation well in recent years despite the international environment with many uncertainties and risks.

She highly appreciated the guidelines and policies of the Party and State of Vietnam in stabilizing the macro-economy and renewing the growth model to adapt to climate change.

She affirmed that the IMF will always accompany Vietnam in the process of recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic for development; and wished to strengthen the cooperative relationship with agencies of Vietnam in general and the PCC Economic Commission in particular./.
