According to the Department of Overseas Labor Management under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA), earlier, the target for 2022 was set at sending 90,000 people to work abroad.

More than 142,000 workers going to work abroad was also the highest number in the past 3 years. Previously, in 2019 there was a record of 147,000 workers going to work abroad, but due to the heavy impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, this number decreased to more than 78,000 in 2020 and more than 45,000 in 2021.

According to the assessment of the MOLISA, sending Vietnamese laborers to work abroad under contracts in 2022 gradually recovered in the last 6 months of the year, focusing mainly on the Japanese, Korean and Taiwanese (China) markets.

Japan was still the labor receiving market that attracts the most Vietnamese laborers in 2022 with 67,295 people, followed by the Taiwanese (China) market with 58,598 laborers, the Republic of Korea with 9,968 laborers, Singapore with 1,822 laborers, China with 910 laborers, Romania with 721 laborers, Hungary with 775, Russia with 467 laborers, Poland with 494 laborers and other markets.

In the coming time, MOLISA will continue to promote the implementation of activities under the agreements signed with the receiving countries; traditional market stabilization and development measures; and negotiationg to expand high-income markets with good jobs for laborers.

In 2022, Vietnam signed a cooperation agreement to send workers to work with a number of European countries such as Germany, Romania, Czech and Bulgaria.

For different countries, the cooperation agreement will be different. In some countries, the two sides will sign a comprehensive cooperation in all fields and industries such as Japan and the Republic of Korea, but in some countries the cooperation agreement will only include 1 or 2 fields such as Germany in nursing and high-tech industry.

Sending Vietnamese laborers to work abroad will also be more selective. Accordingly, MOLISA will gradually balance the domestic and foreign labor force in the direction that is most beneficial to the workers.

It is expected that the goal of labor export in 2023 is to send about 110,000 laborers to work abroad./.
