Nearly 18,300 children benefit from project on free milk for primary school children

The program "Free milk support for primary school children for the period 2017-2022" aims to improve the nutritional status of primary school children, especially in poor districts, through activities for children to drink milk every day, thus reducing the rate of malnutrition and improving the fitness of Vietnamese children, contributing to the development of the country's human resources in the future.

Over the past 5 years, the project has been carried out across 61 localities, benefiting 18,293 children.

The figures were announced on November 29 during a ceremony to review the project, which was conducted by the National Fund for Vietnamese Children (NFVC) in collaboration with localities.

According to the organizers, the project has also help communicate to change the perception of parents, teachers and children about the benefits of drinking milk daily for their own health and brain for learning.

Marking a humanitarian program of great humanity, it aimed to contributing to reducing inequalities in children's development opportunities in poor localities, arousing the response of the whole society.

During the ceremony, the NFVC presented 100 scholarships worth VND1 million each, and 25 bicycles to extremely disadvantaged children with good academic results, with a capital of nearly VND200 million./.
