Promoting traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Denmark

Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh has assessed that during Ambassador of Denmark Højlund Christensen’s term, with his ability, experience and enthusiasm, the Ambassador has made important contributions to strengthening and promoting the traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Denmark.

He made the statement on July 5 when hosting a reception for outgoing Ambassador of Denmark Højlund Christensen.
During the reception, the Permanent Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the Ambassador's impression in promoting LEGO Group's investment in Binh Duong Province, which uses clean energy in production, in line with the investment attraction orientation of the Vietnamese Government.
Following LEGO's project, another Danish corporation, Pandora (jewelry manufacturer) announced a USD100 million project which also uses renewable energy at the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) No.3 in Binh Duong Province.
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his belief that the projects of LEGO and Pandora not only create a push to promote the investment wave using clean energy, but also attract chain manufacturing enterprises to invest in Vietnam.
Thanking the Permanent Deputy Prime Minister for his time, Ambassador Kim Højlund Christensen expressed his good feelings for the country and people of Vietnam during the past 4 years of his working term.
The Ambassador said that the two countries' relations are constantly being strengthened and expanded from traditional fields to effective cooperation in areas where Vietnam is in need and Denmark has strengths, including green growth with private sector involvement; renewable energy such as energy saving, offshore wind power; medical; and education.
For LEGO project, he also thanked the Government of Vietnam for facilitating LEGO Group’s goal to build its first carbon-neutral factory.
Denmark was among the first in Europe to establish diplomatic ties with Vietnam (November 1975). It was also the first North European country to lift the bilateral ties with Vietnam to a comprehensive partnership.
It has remained among Vietnam’s largest ODA providers for years, whose projects mainly focused on enhancing climate resilience./.
