Singapore to cooperate and exchange experiences with Ho Chi Minh City in human resource development

Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai affirmed that the cooperative relationship between Ho Chi Minh City and Singapore not only benefits Ho Chi Minh City, but also is an important factor contributing to the common development of Vietnam - Singapore relations.

He made the statement during his reception for Mr. Tan See Leng, Singaporean Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry, on August 11.

During the reception, Mr. Mai expressed his hope that in the near future, Ho Chi Minh City will cooperate with Singapore to promote information exchange and work coordination to soon turn the desire for cooperation between the two sides into specific projects.

Appreciating Singapore's qualifications and experience in training high-quality human resources, he added that Ho Chi Minh City is very interested in human resource development in general, especially the officials in the authority system. “Ho Chi Minh City is eager to promote cooperation with Singapore in the field of human resource training and development, including cadre training for the authority system,” he said.

In addition to potential areas such as smart city construction, urban management, and green economy, he said that Ho Chi Minh City wants Singapore to strengthen cooperation and share experiences in the field of developing innovative start-ups, helping Ho Chi Minh City become an innovative start-up center of the country and the region. Ho Chi Minh City leaders committed to always creating the most favorable conditions for Singapore businesses to invest and do long-term business in the city.

Thanking the leader of Ho Chi Minh City for taking the time to receive the delegation, Mr. Tan See Leng said that at present, Singapore is focusing on investing in human resource development, especially the disadvantaged, with the goal of meeting the requirements of economic development in the current digital revolution era, because human resources are the most important resource of each country. Singapore wishes and is willing to cooperate, exchange and share experiences with Ho Chi Minh City in the field of human resource development.

He expressed his impression of the economic development potential of Ho Chi Minh City, adding that the city has always been the preferred location of Singaporean investment enterprises. He suggested setting up a working group or a tripartite council with the participation of ministries and sectors of the two countries and Ho Chi Minh City to promote cooperation in areas of mutual interest such as building a smart city, orienting urban management and development, green economy as well as promoting cooperation projects on trade and investment.

He highly appreciated the level and creativity of Ho Chi Minh City's high-quality human resources and affirmed his willingness to cooperate and share experiences in the field of innovation, helping Ho Chi Minh City support the development of start-up incubators, creating an innovative startup ecosystem, contributing to the sustainable development of Ho Chi Minh City into the future./.
