Thua Thien - Hue and Lao province strengthen cooperative relationship

During the meeting, Secretary of the Thua Thien - Hue Provincial Party Committee Le Truong Luu suggested that in the coming time, the two sides should coordinate to finalize the content of the Draft Cooperation Agreement for the period of 2023 - 2027.

He proposed the two sides create conditions for authorized units to coordinate and effectively implement the Cooperation Agreement in order to firmly manage and protect the border line, prevent and fight against all kinds of cross-border crime; focus on promoting, expanding and diversifying trade promotion activities, export product structure; and continue to maintain coordination in organizing cultural and artistic exchange activities. In addition, Attapeu province was suggested to create favorable conditions for laborers from Thua Thien Hue province to do business and live in Attapeu on the basis of strictly implementing the legal regulations of both Vietnam and Laos.

Attapeu Provincial Party Committee Secretary and Governor Let Xaynhaphon thanked leaders of Thua Thien - Hue for their warm welcome; affirmed the solidarity and friendship between the two peoples of Laos and Vietnam in general, and Attapeu and Thua Thien Hue in particular, which is increasingly developing and deepening.

He suggested that in the coming time, the two sides should strengthen cooperation in the fields of education, health, culture, tourism, agriculture, trade and investment. He added that Attapeu province wished Thua Thien Hue’s leaders, departments and agencies, and especially businesses, would study and explore potentials and strengths to find investment and business opportunities in the locality, in order to strengthen solidarity and cooperation to new heights in all fields.

Thua Thien - Hue and Attapeu province have had a particularly good traditional friendship in all fields. Every year, Thua Thien - Hue province grants Attapeu 10 partial scholarships at the college and university level. Up to now, Thua Thien - Hue has supported training for 163 Lao students from Attapeu province to study at colleges and universities in the province. It has also supported the province in the field of medical examination and treatment according to the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Hue Central Hospital and the provinces of South Central Laos.

The People's Committee of Thua Thien - Hue province also sent condolences and put aside USD10,000 for Attapeu province to overcome the consequences caused by the failure of the hydroelectric dam in the area./.
