So said Politburo member and permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee's Secretariat Truong Thi Mai during a reception for a high-ranking delegation from the Committees for the Defence of the Revolution of Cuba (CDR), led by its National Coordinator Gerardo Hernandez Nordelo, in Hanoi on May 17.
During the meeting, Ms Mai warmly welcomed the working visit to Vietnam of the CDR delegation; expressed her pleasure about the solidarity and special friendship between the two Parties, the two states and the peoples; emphasized the special, exemplary, impartial, loyal and transparent friendship between the two Parties, the two States and the two peoples, which was founded by President Ho Chi Minh and leader Fidel Castoro, and cultivated by generations of leaders and people of the two countries over the past 60 years, to become an invaluable common asset that needs to be preserved and constantly developed.
She affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always stand side by side and wish to further tighten the relationship of solidarity and special friendship with the Cuban Party, State and people, constantly developing the relationship between the two countries to get better and better in the new period.
She also expressed her joy at the positive results that Cuba has achieved in recent times and affirmed the support of the Party and State of Vietnam for the process of updating Cuba’s socio-economic development according to the resolutions of the 8th Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba and expressed confidence that the fraternal Cuban people, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba, will continue to make efforts to overcome difficulties and challenge and protect the revolutionary achievements and the goal of building socialism in Cuba.
She highly appreciated the good traditional friendship between the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the CDR, suggested the two sides work closely to effectively implement the Cooperation Agreement for the period of 2023 -2028, contributing to tightening and deepening the friendship and cooperation between the two organizations and the special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba.
Mr. Gerardo Hernandez Nordelo expressed his emotions and thanked comrade Truong Thi Mai for taking the time to receive the CDR delegation. He informed Ms Mai of the current Cuban situation and the focus of work of the CDR; affirming the solidarity, attachment and admiration of the Cuban people for the resilient example of the Vietnamese people in the previous struggle for national liberation and the present development.
He expressed his deep belief that under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, headed by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the Vietnamese people will continue to make many more great achievements, helping Vietnam develop more and more strongly./.
