Vietnam, Italy expand cooperation and exploit potential opportunities

The Hanoi delegation led by Nguyen Thi Tuyen, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, paid a working visit to Italy on November 25 - 27, in order to promote practical cooperation, contribute to strengthening political trust, trade, cultural and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, and look towards the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Italy in 2023.

On November 25, the delegation had a meeting with the Rome city government, with a respectful welcome from the Mayor of Rome, Mr. Roberto Gualtieri.

At the meeting, the two sides exchanged and updated information on the socio-economic development of the two capitals; reviewed the results of cooperation between Hanoi and Rome over the past time in the fields of investment, tourism, trade, culture, as well as the promotion of friendship and cooperation at the level between the two capitals in the fields of management, urban development, economy and cultural heritage conservation.

Speaking at the meeting, Ms Tuyen highly appreciated the results and achievements of socio-economic development of Rome.

She emphasized that Hanoi city attaches great importance to and wishes to continue promoting friendship and cooperation with Italian localities in general and Rome in particular in the spirit of promoting friendship and cooperation, deepening the obtained cooperation results and expanding new areas, exploiting potential opportunities.

She suggested promoting exchange activities, sharing experiences, and exchanging cooperation at local levels between Hanoi and Rome in potential areas such as urban management; smart city development; education; preservation of cultural heritage values; travel; environment; culture, sports and people-to-people exchanges.

Mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri highly appreciated and believed that the visit of the Hanoi delegation would open many new activities and opportunities for bilateral cooperation between the two capitals in the coming time.

He shared his experience in urban management, including the policy of smart city development, with 5G signal transceivers from poles at bus stops; development of a system of belt tourist zones around the city with the goal of building general infrastructure serving all the needs of people in each area with the name "15-minute city", meaning people can have access to all services within 15 minutes.

Towards the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Italy in 2023, the leaders of the two capitals also agreed to strengthen the exchange of delegations at all levels and jointly organize cultural and art exchange programs, thereby, promoting in-depth, substantive and effective cooperation between Hanoi and Rome.

On the same day, the delegation had a meeting with leaders of the Rome Cultural Heritage Conservation Agency to exchange and share experiences on conservation and promotion of cultural heritage values, serving sustainable tourism development; the application of high technology in heritage management and conservation; tourism promotion and cultural exchanges activities.

Within the framework of the visit, the Hanoi delegation visited a model of high-tech agricultural development in the Lazio region and worked with the Lazio Regional Agricultural Development and Improvement Agency (Arsial). The two sides openly exchanged contents related to the planning and development of high-tech agriculture in the Lazio region; linkage model from production to consumption; the research, transfer and application of technology in agricultural production, processing and business; and support of businesses to access the market, boosting the export of agricultural products to the European Union (EU)./.
