Vietnam, Japan promote cooperation in post-pandemic economic recovery

Politburo member Tran Tuan Anh expressed delight at the remarkable development of the Vietnam-Japan extensive strategic partnership as the two countries are promoting cooperation in economic recovery after COVID-19; strengthening economic-trade cooperation and technology transfer; and supporting Vietnam to accelerate digital transformation, fulfilling its commitment to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.

Mr. Anh, who is also Head of the Party Central Committee Commission on Economics, made the statement during his reception for Governor of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) Hayashi Nobumitsu, on September 15.

He highly appreciated JBIC's effective operation and positive contributions in Vietnam with its participation in financial support for many projects in Vietnam; and welcomed JBIC for its active cooperation with the Party Central Committee Commission on Economics and related agencies in recent times to promote the Japan-US-Australia partnership cooperation mechanism with Vietnam in order to increase investment in essential infrastructure in Vietnam.

He suggested that the Japanese side and JBIC continue to support and promote investment from Japanese, US and Australian investors in a number of key areas where Vietnam has demand such as energy transformation; development of clean energy, implementation of strategic infrastructure projects, especially transport infrastructure, climate change response infrastructure, digital transformation infrastructure; improve medical capacity; training and improvement of the quality of human resources.

Mr. Hayashi Nobumitsu thanked Mr. Tran Tuan Anh for the welcome, and expressed his belief that the Japan-Vietnam cooperation relationship will develop better and better.

According to Mr. Hayashi Nobumitsu, JBIC appreciated Vietnam's guidelines, orientations and achievements in socio-economic development and development recovery policies in the post-COVID-19 period, confirming that in his working position, he would lead JBIC to continue to accompany and cooperate closely with Vietnam in investment and development of socio-economic infrastructure, contributing to deepening the relationship between the two countries for achieving many good results in all fields of cooperation./.
