Vietnam, Thailand enhance friendship and good cooperation

Stating that Ho Chi Minh City has many similarities with Bangkok, the Vice President of the Thai Senate hoped that the two sides would have more opportunities to promote cooperation.

On September 20, in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Vo Van Hoan, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, received a delegation of the Thai Senate led by Mr. Supachai Somcharoen, Vice President of the Thai Senate, visiting and working in Ho Chi Minh City.

Welcoming and appreciating the visit, Mr. Vo Van Hoan said that at present, the two sides always cooperate closely in bilateral relations as well as support and coordinate with each other at multilateral forums to achieve the goals of each country, jointly contributing to building a sustainable and prosperous ASEAN Community.

He expressed his thanks to the State and people of Thailand, especially the business community and Thai people living in Ho Chi Minh City, for their enthusiastic support for the prevention and control of COVID-19 in Ho Chi Minh City over the past time.

He said he believed that the delegation’s visit will help its members have more understanding about Ho Chi Minh City, thereby contributing to enhancing the good cooperation between Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City, and Thailand.

For his part, Mr. Supachai Somcharoen, Vice President of the Thai Senate, said that the relationship between Thailand and Vietnam has a long tradition. Currently, the two countries not only jointly promote the development of good relations in the fields of politics, economy and security, but also always help each other in difficult times like brothers in the ASEAN family.

In recent years, many Thai people have visited the President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site in Nakhon Phanom Province in Thailand to pay their respects to the leader of the Vietnamese nation and express solidarity and friendship with the Vietnamese people.

Expressing his impression of Ho Chi Minh City's development potential after his visit to the city's Hi-Tech Park, he congratulated Ho Chi Minh City on initial achievements in digital transformation and the building of a smart city.

He added that Ho Chi Minh City has many similarities with the Thai capital Bangkok, the country’s outstanding locality in economic development; and wished to have many opportunities in the coming time to further promote the cooperation with Ho Chi Minh City in fields of mutual interest.

At the meeting, the two sides exchanged and shared information on urban management, fiscal policy, education system, construction and smart city development./.
