During the meeting, Divisional General Víctor Rojo Ramos, head of the Political Directorate of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), said that the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces were born with the main task of defending national sovereignty and preparing to fight to avoid war.

Over the past six decades, the special traditional friendship between Cuba and Vietnam has been continuously consolidated and comprehensively developed in all fields, a symbol of the brotherly solidarity between the two countries.

Although the COVID-19 pandemic has caused significant impacts, the period 2020-2022 has a very important meaning in the bilateral relationship between Cuba and Vietnam, which is reflected in the exchange of high-level delegations and the increasingly significant diplomatic, economic and military relations.

"The Cuban army and people always support the brotherly solidarity between peoples, especially between Vietnam and Cuba. We always want a world of peace, and cooperation for making a better world," said Lieutenant General Victor Rojo Ramos.

On behalf of the leadership of the Ministry of National Defense, Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet, Vice Head of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, said that 66 years ago, the ship Granma carrying 82 outstanding children of Cuba led by leader Fidel Castro landed on the Cuban beach. This was a historical event that continues the path that patriot Jose Marti has taken since 1895, becoming a symbol and source of strong encouragement for the Latin American people's struggle for independence and freedom in general and the Cuban people in particular, bringing Cuba to success in the national democratic revolution, ending 5 centuries of colonialism and gaining independence and freedom for the country.

Over the past 60 years, since the two countries established diplomatic relations, the relationship between Vietnam and Cuba has been fostered through all the challenges of the times, becoming an exemplary, pure and faithful relationship.

Along with the good development and strengthening of cooperation in the two countries' relations, the relationship between the Vietnam People's Army and the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces has always been appreciated by generations of leaders of the Party, Government and Ministry of National Defense for consolidating, promoting, and becoming one of the pillars and models of cooperation in other fields, contributing to enhancing the special traditional friendship between the two countries.

"As close friends, comrades and brothers, the Vietnamese Party, State, people and army will continue to unite, support and stand side by side with the people and the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces in the struggle for peace, national independence and socialism," said Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet./.
