Ha Nam Province marks 130th founding anniversary

The Ha Nam provincial authorities held a ceremony on October 17 to mark the province’s 130th founding anniversary and receive the Independence Order, first class.

The event was attended by Politburo member and Minister of Defence, General Ngo Xuan Lich; Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu, Minister of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung, and Secretary of the Ha Nam Provincial Party Committee Le Thi Thuy, as well as representatives of ministries, sectors, local revolutionary veterans, and Vietnamese heroic mothers.

Over its 130-year history, the Party Committee, authorities and people of Ha Nam Province have developed a high sense of solidarity, activeness and creativeness in promoting its advantages towards boosting socio-economic development, improving infrastructure, ensuring social welfare while maintaining security and social order.

The province has maintained an annual economic growth rate of 11%, higher than the average level in the country, with due attention given to fostering industrialisation and modernisation.

Significant achievements have also been seen in building new-styled rural areas as 100% communes in the province being recognised as having met all new-style rural areas.

The provincial Party Committee have attached great importance to enhancing Party building, strengthening political system, and creating favourable environment for investors.

Speaking at the event, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh hailed outstanding achievements made by Ha Nam’s provincial Party Committee, authorities and people throughout its 130-year journey of establishment and development.

She asked the local authorities to continue mobilising all available resources to upgrading its transport network and infrastructure, wastewater treatment system, and medical facilitates.

It was also necessary to accelerate administrative reform, develop high-quality human resources, and step up the application of high technology in agricultural production while promoting tourism and raising the competitiveness of local economy, she added.

In the context of the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, she requested an utmost effort to remove difficulties for businesses and workers in order to ensure social welfare and the livelihoods of local people.

On behalf of the Party and State, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh awarded the Independence Order, first class to the provincial Party Committee, authorities and people of Ha Nam. Labour orders were also conferred to 15 individuals on the occasion.
