It has completed repatriation procedures for a total of 100 Vietnamese fishermen it captured for illegally fishing in its waters.

The rest of the fishermen will return home in the next few days during the fifth handover in 2017.

More than 340 Vietnamese fishermen have been repatriated, including those who were arrested in 2016, so far this year.

Since the beginning of this year, Indonesia has held over 700 Vietnamese fishermen, 300 of whom are still being detained in the country’s islands.

Some fishermen said that they were captured in an overlapping sea area which is yet to be delineated by Vietnam and Indonesia.
