Mexican businessman appointed as Vietnamese Honorary Consul in Guadalajara

Vietnamese Ambassador to Mexico Nguyen Hoai Duong on July 8th presented a decision by Deputy Prime Minister cum Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh on appointing Mr. Miguel Angel Landeros Voquart, Vice President of the Mexican Business Council for Foreign Trade (COMCE), as Vietnam’s Honorary Consul in Guadalajara, in charge of the states of Jalisco and Colima, for the 2020-2023 period.

Speaking at the event, the ambassador congratulated the newly appointed Honorary Consul, and believed that Mr. Miguel Angel Landeros will learn about the Vietnamese community in his consular area and guide them to abide by Mexico’s laws, respect the country’s customs, and foster friendly relations with the host people.

Mr. Nguyen Hoai Duong also expected Mr. Miguel Angel Landeros to support the organisation of economic cooperation and trade promotion activities between Vietnam and Mexico in his role as vice president of COMCE and president of the COMCE of the West, especially Mexico’s western states, contributing to developing the multifaceted relationship between the two nations in a more extensive and substantive manner in the near future.

At the event, Mr. Miguel Angel Landeros expressed his honor at the appointment, pledging to do his utmost to fulfil his missions as an honorary consul.

According to the Honorary Consul, he would encourage and directly lead a delegation of enterprises in western Mexico to explore the Vietnamese market, thus boosting bilateral trade and economic cooperation, especially within the framework of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) to which both Mexico and Vietnam are signatories.

He affirmed that his appointment is not only an honor for himself but also for his hometown of Guadalajara, where President Ho Chi Minh’s statue is formally situated at the International Friendship Centre./.
