Following is the letter:

Dear overseas Vietnamese,

The 4th wave of the COVID-19 pandemic with the outbreak of Delta variant has covered most of the provinces and cities, greatly affecting the life, economy and society of Vietnam. The whole political system from the central to local levels is focusing on "fighting the pandemic like fighting the enemy" to protect people's health safety, recover the economy and ensure social security.

In this difficult period, we witness touching stories of the great solidarity and noble deeds of the Vietnamese community around the world.

Up to now, overseas Vietnamese have sent more than 60 billion VND to support the country along with considerable medical equipment and products. At the same time, many overseas Vietnamese businessmen and intellectuals have participated in proposing initiatives and solutions to control the pandemic and develop the economy and society in the new situation.

The pandemic continues to develop complicately; many localities are forced to apply strict pandemic prevention measures. Due to social distancing and isolation in blockade areas, many people lost their jobs. The number of people in difficult circumstances increases; and shortage of medical equipment occurs, while the country's resources are limited.

So right now, the country desperately needs the contribution of overseas Vietnamese and friends around the world. Let's join hands with "Millions of compassionate hearts towards the Fatherland" - the movement launched by the SCOV under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

With the determination of the whole political system, the consensus of the people and the support of the overseas Vietnamese community, we believe that Vietnam will step by step slow the spread of the disease; meet the requirements of necessities for people living in pandemic-hit areas; provide medical equipment for hospitals; and speed up the vaccination process for the whole country.

On this occasion, on behalf of the SCOV under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, I would like to express my sincere thanks to the overseas Vietnamese who have shared their love with people in the country, doctors, health workers and volunteers on the front lines of the fight against the pandemic.

Sincerely sending overseas Vietnamese best wishes for health and success./.
