Golf tournament connects Vietnamese community in Japan

The Vietnamese Golf Association in Japan (VGAJ) and the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan on April 2 jointly organized the Sakura VGAJ Invitational 2022 at Windsor Park Golf and Country Club in Ibaraki Prefecture.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Phan Trung Hieu, President of VGAJ, said that VGAJ was established in 2019 in order to create a healthy sports playground for overseas Vietnamese in Japan and to connect and create a stronger Vietnamese community.

Less than a year after its establishment, VGAJ has gathered many Vietnamese golfers in the Kanto region and organized the first tournament. Up to now, VGAJ has nearly 100 members, an increase of nearly 5 times compared to the time of its establishment.

For his part, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Vu Hong Nam expressed his delight at VGAJ’s growth in general and the Sakura VGAJ Invitational Golf Tournament in particular. The Ambassador expressed his hope that VGAJ will continue to be a useful playground for the Vietnamese community in Japan.

Meanwhile, Mr. Hoang Dinh Giang, President of Yo Group Joint Stock Company, one of the sponsors for the tournament, said that golf tournaments such Sakura VGAJ Invitational not only help strengthen cohesion in the Vietnamese community in Japan through a very popular sport in the Land of the Rising Sun today, but also help improve physical and mental health for Vietnamese people. This is the reason why Yo Group decided to sponsor this tournament./.
